O’Brien Returns To Host Golden Mic Gala

The Broadcasters Foundation of America is proud to announce the return of Emmy®-winning broadcast journalist and nationally syndicated talk show host Soledad O’Brien as emcee of the BFOA 2024 Golden Mic Award Gala on Monday, March 4, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. The annual event is the biggest fundraiser for the Broadcasters Foundation, whose sole mission is to provide aid to radio and television professionals in acute need. Ms. O’Brien first hosted the Golden Mic gala last year.

“Everyone wanted Soledad to come back for a second year,” said Scott Herman, Chair of the Broadcasters Foundation. “She’s a well-known and highly respected broadcaster, and we are grateful that she is giving her time and talent to supporting our charitable mission.”

O’Brien currently hosts the nationally syndicated Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien, produced by Hearst Television. She has previously anchored shows on CNN, MSNBC, and NBC, hosted projects for Fox and A&E, and contributed to Oxygen, Nat Geo, the PBS NewsHour, and WebMD.

O’Brien remarked, “The Broadcasters Foundation has an incredible impact on the people in our business who face serious illness or catastrophe and need help. I’m honored to lend my support as the host of their fundraising gala and to pay tribute to this year’s award recipients.”

As was previously announced, this year’s BFOA Golden Mic Award honoree will be Jordan Wertlieb, EVP/COO of Hearst. The recipient of the Edward F. McLaughlin Lifetime Achievement Award will be Deborah Norville, Emmy© winning anchor of Inside Edition and a 23-year member of the Broadcasters Foundation Board of Directors.
