Remembering Chad Elliot

• We keep losing good people — earlier today we learned that Chad Elliot,  Market Manager of Zimmer Marketing’s Joplin, MO group, and a company fixture for over a quarter-century, died suddenly on Saturday, June 12 at his home. He was only 47 years old.

Elliot, whose given name was Chad Carroz, originally joined Zimmer back in 1991 and steadily worked his way up the corporate ladder until May 2016, when he was elevated to Market Manager for Zimmer’s six-station cluster in Joplin, MO — Top 40 KSYN (Kissin 92.5), Country KIXQ (Kix 102.5), Mainstream Rock KXDG (Big Dog 97.9), News-Talk KZRG, Classic Hits KJMK and News-Talk KZYM-AM (AM 1230 The Talker). He also hosted the KZRG Morning NewsWatch from 2009 through 2018. KZRG also posted the news of Elliot’s passing.

In a deeply heartfelt — and emotionally devastating — Facebook post, Elliot’s wife Monica, also a Zimmer employee, broke the news of Chad’s death, which happened the day before the couple’s 14th wedding anniversary, although they had been together for much longer. “He was my best friend. My husband. My love. My light. My world,” Monica noted. “Chad had two passions. Zimmer Radio and his dogs. He lived, breathed and bled Zimmer. He wanted nothing more than to help local businesses succeed and grow. He fought for those success stories.”

James Zimmer, owner of Zimmer Marketing, commented, “Chad will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was part of our family for over 25 years. His passion for radio guided him from being a part-time air talent to Market Manager of Zimmer Marketing in Joplin. We will hold Chad forever in our hearts and look forward to seeing him in eternal life with Christ.”

In addition to Monica, Chad Elliot is survived by their daughter, Mattie. Details on funeral arrangements are pending. More messages of condolence are being left on Chad’s Facebook page.
