Remembering Craig Walker

“Craig redrew the landscape of Portland broadcasting with his intelligence, wit, and personality, and he did so with integrity and wisdom. The morning show he led on 62 KGW and later KKCW (K103) was consistently among the market leaders, and he was a longtime prime-time presence on KGW-TV as well. He shared his health challenges openly, and the entire community held its breath as he awaited the call for the 1993 liver transplant that added decades to his life. Craig also used his public profile to support causes he held dear, particularly organ transplantation and research into diabetes, bone cancer, and breast cancer.
“Through all the years of his high-profile success, his true focus was always his family: his wife, Barb; son, Craig; and daughter, Karen, who passed away in 2016. He and Barb enjoyed being an active presence in the lives of all six of their grandchildren. They will dearly miss him, as will we all. Services are pending. Rest in peace, my broadcast brother.”
• On Monday, July 27, starting at 7am PT, K103 will share stories and memories of Craig from colleagues, friends & listeners.
