Wenger Reaches Pinnacle In Buffalo
• Audacy has elevated Tim Wenger to SVP/Market Manager of its Buffalo, NY group — Country WLKK (107.7 & 104.7 The Wolf), Top 40 WKSE (Kiss 98.5), News-Talk WBEN (NewsRadio 930), Classic R&B WWWS-AM (107.3/1400), Sports-Talk WGR 550, and BetQL affiliate WWKB-AM (The Bet 1520). He succeeds Tim Holly, who recently announced his retirement.
Wenger is a rare breed who has spent his entire radio career in these very hallways, starting back in 1986 as a news reporter and anchor with WBEN. He was elevated to News Director in the mid-’90s and named PD of WBEN in 1998. Two years later he was upped to Operations Manager for WBEN, WGR 550 and WWKB. Wenger most recently served as Brand Manager for WBEN, OM for WBEN, WGR 550 and The Bet, and News-Talk Format Vice President for Audacy.
In making the announcement of Wenger’s upgrade to SVP/Market Manager, Regional President Mark Hannon said, “Tim has been a leading presence in our building for nearly 40 years, and it seems only fitting that he now takes over the reins of the market. He has intimate knowledge of our local brands, and I can think of no one better to pick up the mantle from Tim Holly and lead us into the future.”
Wenger, a recent inductee into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame, remarked, “As a lifelong Buffalonian, it’s surreal to be assuming the leadership role for Audacy Buffalo’s group of stations. The unique content and personalities on the brands, combined with strong client and sports play-by-play partnerships, positions Audacy for growth and success in Buffalo.”
