Chaz & AJ Step Up For Vets
Chaz and AJ, the longtime morning duo on Connoisseur Media Rock WPLR/New Haven, CT are hosting a Veterans Gala on June 2 to honor a local hero — Army Specialist Ryan Dottie (left) from Hamden, CT suffers from PTSD after spending four years in Iraq and three years in the National Guard. She has been unable to work for the past few years and her home needs serious repair.
Dostie’s story was brought to the attention of Chaz & AJ by Heart 9/11, a group comprised of 9-11 and Newtown first responders that renovates homes for veterans. Chaz said, “Ryan gave up prime years of her life to volunteer for her country. The very least we can do as a community is help her live in a home that is makes her feel that it was all worth it.”
Many area dignitaries and veterans are expected to attend this event, which is happening Friday, June 2 at Fantasia Wedding Banquet Facility in North Haven, CT. The evening will feature the two things that Chaz and AJ do best — comedy and fundraising. PJ Walsh and Dave Reilly will both do stand-up sets. Walsh is a former veteran and is very involved in fundraising for military causes. “This will be an event to remember,” said Operations Manager Keith Dakin. “It will truly show what Chaz and AJ does best which is to make people laugh and help those that need it the most.” Tickets are $25 for General Admission; $20 for veterans and are available online at wplr.com.
