Dave & Chuck Extended, Detroit Satisfied
Beasley Media Group has inked a four-year contract extension with Dave Hunter and Chuck Urquhart, hosts of the Dave & Chuck The Freak morning show on Detroit’s legendary Rock station, 101.1 WRIF. This new deal supersedes their existing Greater Media package (which had two years remaining) and includes co-hosts Lisa Way and Andy Green, Producer James Campbell and Video Editor Jason Watson. “Of course we extended their contracts!” exclaimed Mac Edwards, Market Manager of Beasley Detroit. “Dave and Chuck have crushed the competition and dominated Detroit’s morning radio for men and women, ranking No. 1 in every key demo including 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54! We value their amazing talent and are fortunate to work with them.”
Dave & Chuck first teamed up in 2001 and gained fame (and partial fortune) in the Motor City market thanks to a 14-year run in mornings across the street at Bell Media Alternative CIMX (89X)/Windsor-Detroit. Midway through their run the show expanded to a trio with the addition of Lisa Way, and they were hired at WRIF in May 2013.
Commenting on their sweet, sweet extension, Hunter (left) said, “It’s a huge compliment to know Beasley is so enthusiastic about continuing our show. We are not only radio morning co-hosts — we are friends with families who are enjoying being part of this community. Beasley has not asked us to change our show. They want us to thrive, so they’ve been beyond supportive. We enjoy working as professional partners with our Detroit Market Manager Mac Edwards, WRIF PD Mark Pennington, Beasley Media Group Chief Operating Officer Brian Beasley, as well as Beasley Media Group Chief Executive Officer Caroline Beasley. It just doesn’t get better than that!”
