Stryker Leaving Mornings On KROQ/LA

UPDATED: For the second time in 15 months, there’s been a seismic shift in mornings on Audacy Alternative KROQ/Los Angeles, as morning co-host Ted Stryker, half of the Stryker & Klein morning show, announced his departure from the show.

Stryker, a 22-year KROQ fixture, and his afternoon drive partner Kevin Klein were elevated into morning drive in March 2020 on the heels of the controversial termination of 30-year station vet Kevin Ryder and the cast of Kevin In The Morning With Allie & Jensen — the successor to the Kevin & Bean show.

In a Twitter post, Stryker noted, “After more than 22 years at KROQ, I can proudly say with infinite gratitude that will be leaving my fulltime position and stepping away from Stryker and Klein. What’s next for me? I’ve got a lot of things planned on the horizon (stay tuned). In the meantime, my Out Of Order show will continue to air on weekends on KROQ and around the country. I’ll also be filling in on the station when needed. The love and support that I’ve gotten from this community over so many years have meant and continue to mean the world to me. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your world.”

RAMP reached out to Mike Kaplan, who triples as SVP of KROQ & WNYL (ALT 92.3)/New York and Audacy Alternative Format Captain, who said, “Big shoes to fill. For years, Stryker’s delivered passionate and interactive on-air programming for our listeners, and has had a longtime connection to the SoCal community. We all thank him immensely for his invaluable contributions to KROQ over the years. We’ll be sharing details of his next chapter with Audacy in the near future. In the meantime, Stryker is remaining in his current role until a new co-host for Klein, Ally and Omar is discovered.”

• That high-profile co-host position is now posted on the Audacy Careers site (ID 2021-2179).
