The Spirit Of WFNX Lives On

• The many longtime fans of the late, legendary Alternative station WFNX/Boston will have a chance to see of their favorite former FNX staffers reassembled in one convenient location again on Thursday, Sept. 19 as the Boston Center for Adult Education presents Jock Talk: In Conversation With WFNX On-Air Personalities.

As the session description reads: “In 2012, WFNX, one of the most renowned alternative rock radio stations in the U.S. signed off air, after years of being Boston’s beloved voice of modern rock. WFNX beaconed a generation’s love for indie rock, punk, new wave, and up-and-coming countless artists that defined a generation–it’s aesthetic, culture, and attitude. At this special event, fans and supporters will hear the disc jockeys recount exciting times during WFNX’s heyday — the 1980s and ’90s and be able to ask questions of the panel.”

Scheduled to appear: Julie Kramer, Kurt St. Thomas, Henry Santoro, Morning Guy Tai, Neal RobertAngie C and Troy Smith, and the session will be moderated by Chris “Charlie in the Sandbox” Padgett.

“The beauty of working at FNX was that we were all family,” said Henry Santoro, now a host/anchor for NPR affiliate WGBH-FM/Boston, pictured, above, with Julie Kramer. “We were so busy creating the Alternative format for Boston, that we had no idea anyone was even listening. It turns out many people were listening and every one of them became members of the FNX family, as well. Getting together with Julie, Tai, Neal, Angie, Troy, Kurt & Charlie will be a like a family reunion.” For more information about this very special evening, please visit bcae.org.
