Classic Hits Big News In New Bedford
• It’s the end of one era — and beginning of an exciting new one for radio listeners in New Bedford, MA, as Hall Communications dropped News-Talk on 1340 WNBH, plugged the transmitter into a new FM translator tuned to 101.3 and launched Classic Hits Big 101.3.
Moments after the successful launch, VP of Programming Bob Walker stepped back, surveyed his staff’s handiwork and commented, “These are some of the biggest Top 40 hits ever played on the radio. Top 40 in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s was big and exciting. We are bringing that sound back to New Bedford.”
Tom Wall, VP/GM of WNBH and WCTK & WPVD/Providence, remarked, “WNBH has a long history of serving New Bedford and the South Coast. We are excited to bring WNBH to FM and serve New Bedford with this exciting new brand.”
The new Big 101.3 will play such important coreartists as Prince, Madonna, Billy Joel,Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Huey Lewis & The News, Janet Jacksonand more. Walker added, “These artists made FM Top 40 radio big for so many years. Now they are all on one exciting new radio station in New Bedford.
