John Moore Calls It A Career

• We want to extend our very best wishes to John Moore, the iron man at Cox Media Group Classic Hits WXGL (107.3 The Eagle)/Tampa Bay, who announced he’s hanging up his headphones tomorrow after 41 years in the industry — the last 17 1/2 years right there at The Eagle as MD/afternoon driver. Moore was the first live voice on The Eagle when the station launched in March 2004.

John Brennan, Director of Director of Branding & Programming for The Eagle, commented, “John has been here since the beginning of the Eagle. The brand has seen so much success, including seven Marconi Award nominations during his tenure. We’re excited for John and congratulate him on retirement.”

Moore’s radio career started in September 1980 at KTRX in scenic Tarkio, MO, followed by stops at KMYZ/Tulsa, KCFX/Kansas City and KFMX/Lubbock, TX in 1989 as part of the “Barnum & Bailey Morning Circus.” In 1991 he joined WQFM/Milwaukee as MD/afternoons, and two years later relocated to Dallas, where he spent the next 11 years working at KZPS, KZZN and hosted a National Adult Alternative evening show for CBS Radio.

An excited Moore remarked, “The last 17 1/2 years in Tampa Bay at the Eagle has been a remarkable blessing to me and my family. Now, it’s time to focus on them.” Looking ahead, Moore can be contacted at Moreeagle@gmail.com.
