Remembering Natalie Knox

Natalie Knox, co-owner of Stony Creek Broadcasting Classic Hits WNSX (Star 97.7)/Ellsworth-Bar Harbor, ME passed away at her home in Ellsworth on Monday, June 19 at the age of 68, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Along with her longtime business partner Mark Osborne, Knox launched WKSQ-FM (94.5 Kiss FM)/Ellsworth-Bangor in May of 1982. Ownership of several other Maine stations followed, including WSYY-FM/Millinocket, WBFE (Lucky 99)/Bar Harbor and WBFB (104.7 The Bear)/Belfast-Bangor, and most recently, WNSX. Knox and Osborne also operated Knox & Osborne Advertising in Ellsworth.

Tim Moore, President/CEO of the Maine Association of Broadcasters shared his fond memories of Natalie, telling RAMP, “She and co-owner Mark Osborne gave me my first full-time job — as PD of WKSQ-FM when we signed it on in 1982. She was an incredible person, friend and ‘boss’ — although she would never want to be referred to that way. She was one of the most positive, energetic and passionate people I have ever met, and I am inspired by her courage in fighting her disease and the way she lived her life — loving people and animals — and showing that love every day.” There is a more complete look at Natalie Knox’s life posted at mab.org.
