DeBella Hits The Big Philly 3-5
• We are sending our best wishes to Philadelphia radio icon John DeBella, morning personality on Beasley Classic Rock WMGK, who celebrated his 35th anniversary on the Philadelphia airwaves last Thursday, November 16. The WMGK staff, led by PD Bill Weston, VP/Market Manager Joe Bell and the entire staff burst into the studio during the show, scaring the crap… er… pleasantly surprising the market legend to congratulate him on this memorable milestone.
Over this 35-year span, DeBella has dedicated himself to serving the community — he has raised over $1.1 million for local veterans in his Veterans Radio-thon, collected over 9,000 turkeys annually for less fortunate individuals during his DeBella Turkey Drop and assisted hundreds of local dog rescue groups and shelters in his annual John DeBella Dog Walk. He is being honored by the Philadelphia Kennel Club at this year’s National Dog Show for his tremendous dedication to the welfare of animals. Weston said, “It’s a testament to John’s talent and passion that he continues to connect with his audience in such a powerful way, and is still going strong, 35 years into the game.”
