KQRS Salutes Vets This Weekend

• Cumulus Classic Rock KQRS/Minneapolis has assembled a very special broadcast to recognize and honor Minnesota military veterans on Veterans Day, this Saturday, November 11. KQ’s “Military Takeover” begins Saturday morning with a series of honored guests, including World War II vets and Purple Heart recipients, along with members of the Freedom Alliance and The Real Warriors.

KQRS will also talk with representatives from the American Legion about their “Shop, Ship & Share” initiative, where listeners can donate much-needed items to the troops and have them shipped overseas during the holidays.

From 10am through 6pm, each hour will also feature an “Honorary Military Guest DJ.” Throughout the month of October, KQRS encouraged listeners to nominate a veteran to enjoy a unique experience of being on KQRS playing music, sharing stories and shout-outs to friends and family. Each “Honorary Military Guest DJ” will receive a digital download of their show as a keepsake and to share with friends, family and military colleagues.

The Military Takeover was an idea developed by OM Scott Jameson, who routinely reads “Military Tributes” on the KQRS Morning Show recognizing retired and active duty Minnesota military personnel. Jameson states, “I wanted to do something special for the vets who have been so loyal to KQRS all these years. Hosting your own radio show is once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will be a lot of fun for the vets and for our listeners.”
