Staff Furloughs At Meruelo Media

UPDATED: On Tuesday morning we learned that Frosty Stilwell, longtime co-host of the Frosty, Heidi & Frankmorning show on Meruelo Media Classic Rock KLOS/Los Angeles has been furloughed, reportedly due to a decrease in advertiser support during this coronavirus pandemic. Naturally, longtime fans of the show weighed in with their opinions on Frosty’s departure on the FHF Show Facebook page.

After a closer examination, however, RAMP has discovered that Stilwell may be just the tip of the iceberg, as it were, as we understand that Meruelo has had to furlough a large percentage of the workforce across its slate of Southern California radio stations — KLOS, KPWR (Power 106), KLLI (CALI 93.9) and 93.5 KDAY/Los Angeles, and 93.5 KDEY/Riverside-San Bernardino, as well as KWHY-TV22 — reportedly without pay, TFN. Other employees still on the job have reportedly received pay cuts.

At press time we had heard several specific — yet unconfirmed — names of some of the sidelined employees. Still no word yet on whether their furloughed status will be reversible when the situation improves.

RAMP has reached out to Otto Padron, President & CEO of Meruelo Media for a comment. Stay tuned for further updates.
