Formats You’ll Flip Over
• iHeartMedia Hot AC KVDU (Voodoo 104.1)/New Orleans emerged from its commercial-free Labor Day weekend sporting a new format and name — it’s now Adult Hits 104.1 The Spot, “New Orleans’ We Play Anything Station.” As you might expect, 104.1 The Spot will play cool stuff from the ’70s, ’80s and early ’90s from artists like Madonna, Boston, Bon Jovi and Duran Duran, etc.
Angela Watson, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia New Orleans said, “104.1 The Spot provides New Orleans listeners with something they don’t have — a home for all of their favorites. Fans will be able to listen for 30 minutes straight and sing along to every single song they hear.” Joseph Sergio, PD of 104.1 The Spot added, “New Orleans has a Classic Rock station, and we also have an easy listening station, but 104.1 The Spot will take the best from those worlds, sprinkle in some more recent favorites, and play all of the hits, non-stop, 24/7.”
Former Voodoo 104.1 midday personality Angel Saunders remains with iHeartMedia New Orleans as a member of the promotions team and is on-air with WQUE (Q93) and WNOE.
• Adams Radio lit the fuse on a new Active Rock station in Ft. Wayne, IN — 103.3 The Fort launched at midnight on September 6. The new station replaces FM Talk The Patriot and features two syndicated shows — United Stations’ The Billy Madison Show in morning drive and Westwood One’s The Men’s Room in nights. Kevin Musselman, VP/Market Manager for Adams Radio commented, “We are very excited about this station and what it brings to the listeners of Fort Wayne… we believe will be quickly identified by the 18-34 male as the ‘must-listen-to station’ and it will be a great compliment to our legendary Classic Rock station, 96.3XKE.”
Billy Madison said, “We are amped to make Ft. Wayne part of the BMS family. Thanks again to Adams Radio for believing in us!” Madison is represented by United Stations and Stefan Jones, who added, “We have a great partnership with Ron Stone and his team at Adams Radio Group in Maryland, and we look forward to having the same success in Ft. Wayne.” The Mens Room team remarked, “This is great news and we couldn’t be more excited to share The Men’s Room with Fort Wayne! We’re proud to join their line up and we’re ready to get the party started… and they told us we would get free passes to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo… can’t wait!”
