Craig Carton Files For Bankruptcy
• Disgraced former WFAN/New York host Craig Carton, who lost his job and went to prison after scamming investors with a multi-million-dollar fraud based on non-existent concert tickets, wants protection from his creditors. As reported by The Courier-Post, which serves the counties of Burlington, Camden and Gloucester in New Jersey, Carton has filed for bankruptcy protection.
According to Friday’s filing, Carton, 51, reports assets of almost $1 million, with most of that value coming from his 14-room home in Chester, Morris County. However, the filing also notes liabilities of $9.4 million, including a court judgment demanding restitution of $4.8 million for the fraud’s victims. Oh, and several casino operators want more than $1.5 million, including $350,000 owed to the SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia, part of Carton’s well-documented gambling addiction.
The bankruptcy filing’s note Carton’s most recent addresses as a federal prison in Lewisburg, PA from June 2019 to June 2020, and a Newark halfway house, from which he was released on Aug. 12. He’s currently under house arrest for a criminal sentence “which likely runs through June 2021,” says the filing, adding, “Debtor is hopeful of finding a job in his field as a radio host.”
Carton, the father of four, claims monthly expenses of $35,932, including court-ordered restitution payments of $650. He reports monthly income of about $4,300 from StreetSmartVideo, which, as we recently reported, is produced an upcoming HBO documentary, Wild Card: The Downfall of a Radio Loudmouth, which debuts Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max.
