Panama City: Winter Wonderland

• The good citizens of sunny Panama City Beach, FL were surprised and delighted Wednesday morning to find out that Santa had taken command of iHeartMedia News-Talk WFLF-FM, magically transforming the station into “Christmas 94.5, The Gulf Coast’s Christmas Station, because, well, why not.

The new Christmas 94.5 will play cheerful holiday music from the last several decades, featuring artists from a bunch of musical genres. “The big guy really gave residents of our area a great gift,” said John Lund, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Panama City. “This area has been through the ringer over the last three years, so I feel some round-the-clock Christmas cheer will be much welcomed by radio listeners in the Panhandle.” WFLF’s News-Talk format, branded as “News Radio WFLA” can still be heard in the market on 96.3 and 102.5 FM.

Just when we started wondering whether this early Christmas gift will roll through the end of the year or lead to a new format, we are told that “Santa is promising listeners a present Friday at 5pm CT.” You are advised to stay tuned.
