WGN Inks Bob Sirott For Mornings
• WGN Radio/Chicago replaces one market fixture with another, as Bob Sirott takes over morning drive on Monday, Jan. 6, succeeding Steve Cochran, who exits. At the same time WGN makes it official and formally promotes Mary Sandberg Boyle to General Manager. She had served as interim GM since September 20.
A lifelong Chicagoan, Sirott’s career spans nearly five decades; he got his start as a morning radio personality in 1971. Along the way he has worked at WMAQ, WBBM (B96), WLS, WGN and various television stations. Boyle is a Chicagoland native who has been with WGN Radio since 2015 and previously served as Director of News and Operations.
Effective Monday, January 6, WGN Radio’s weekday programming schedule is as follows: 4-5am: WGN Radio’s simulcast of WGN-TV’s Early Morning News; 5-9am: Bob Sirott; 9am-noon: John Williams; noon-1pm: Wintrust Business Lunch with Ji Suk Yi; 1-3pm: Anna Davlantes; 3-7pm: Roe Conn; 7-11pm: Justin Kaufmann; 11pm-4am: Nick Digilio.
