Stop, Hey, What’s That Sound?

102.1 The Sound SavannahCumulus Media makes a move at WZAT/Savannah, GA, dropping NASH Icon in favor of Hot AC, rebranded as 102.1 The Sound, The New Sound of Savannah — the only Hot AC station in the market. The flip happened at 5pm last Friday and the new station rolled commercial-free music throughout the weekend, much to the delight of millions and millions (approximately) of listeners. 102.1 The Sound also features the syndicated The Bert Show weekdays from 6-9am.

Eric Mastel, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media-Savannah, said, “After extensive market research, it was overwhelmingly evident that Savannah was asking for a radio station they could call their own. 102.1 The Sound is not only named for the music, but also for the beauty of our home and the water that surrounds us. With artists like Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, The Weeknd and Lorde, and featuring The Bert Show in the morning, we have given Savannah exactly what they asked for — 102.1 The Sound! The initial response has been amazing and we are grateful for all the positive comments that new fans of 102.1 The Sound have given us.”

Operations Manager Gerald McCracken added, “I’d like to thank Cumulus for the support to make this change and want to thank Mike McVay, Greg Frey, Rob Roberts, and especially Eric Mastel. His leadership through this process has been most helpful.”
