Fresno Wakes Up With Jason & Athena
• One Putt Broadcasting Top 40 KWDO (99.3 NOW-FM)/Fresno has doubled the fun quotient on its morning show with the addition of market vet Jason “The Single Guy” Hurst, who plugs in across from veteran wake-up artist Athena Matsikas to form the all-new… wait for it… Jason & Athena In The Morning, (pictured here taking every precaution).
Hurst (right) brings with him 30 years of experience, most of it in Fresno, including his most recent stint as morning co-host with Teri Ann Schlesser across the street on iHeartMedia AC KSOF (Soft Rock 98.9), and five years doing afternoons on Cumulus Media’s KSKS (93.7 Kiss Country).
More importantly, Hurst and Athena are longtime friends, and while this is the first time they’ve partnered on the same show, they’ve both worked with many of the staff members at One Putt Broadcasting over the years. “Athena and I have been friends forever, and being at One Putt is like coming home… it really feels right,” said Hurst. “We’ve been working in the studio preparing for today and it felt completely natural and spontaneous.” Athena added, “It doesn’t hurt that he’s tall, dark and handsome… and at barely five feet tall, I really look up to him.”
• Along with the new morning show, NOW FM announced it has reduced its spotload to a supremely uncluttered five minutes per hour maximum, all hours, all day. Yup, that’s 55 minutes of music, every hour, all day. You’re welcome.
