It Takes TU To Make A Thing Go Right
Austin is now the home of a brand new Spanish Top 40 station, as iHeartMedia yesterday launched TÚ 103.1. The new format resides on the HD2 channel of sister KVET and replaces the former Austin-centric Alternative/Indie Rock station, 103.1 iHeart Austin. TÚ 103.1 is now rolling commercial-free featuring Spanish and English songs from artists like Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull, Nicky Jam, Shakira, Mana… you get the idea. “We are so excited to introduce the new TÚ 103.1 to the Austin community,” said Brian Gann, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Austin/San Antonio. “We truly believe this format will resonate well with our Austin listeners, and is a perfect complement to our other stations in the region.”
Beginning June 1, Enrique Santos will make his Austin debut as the host of Tu Mañana con Enrique Santos from 5-9am. The full programming lineup will be announced at a later date. “I’m thrilled to help wake the great people of Austin on weekday mornings with the best music and entertainment,” said Santos, who also serves as Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of iHeartLatino, iHeartMedia’s new Hispanic platform. “Everything is bigger in Texas… but better in Spanish! I’m proud to represent mi gente on the new TÚ 103.1.”
Matt Martin, President of iHeartMedia Austin/San Antonio added, “The addition of this new Spanish-language station adds a new dimension to our cluster and the Austin community. We have an amazing team in place and I’m excited for what’s to come!”
