Remembering ‘DJ Indiana Jones’

• The Indianapolis radio community is mourning the unexpected passing of market mainstay “DJ Indiana Jones,” who died on Friday, Dec. 4. Jones was most recently co-hosting the night show on Radio One Top 40 WNOW (RadioNOW 100.9). No other details are available at this time.

Deon Levingston, Radio One Regional Vice President issued a statement that reads, “The sudden passing of Ron Miner, known as DJ Indiana Jones, has deeply shocked and saddened us. Indiana Jones has been a household name in the Indianapolis DJ community for over three decades and most recently was co-hosting nights on RadioNOW 100.9. Jones was one of the original air personalities and DJs for RadioNOW and has mixed on [WHHH] Hot 96.3 for over 20 years. He was taken away from us too soon and will be missed by all of us at Radio One Indianapolis and the entire Urban One family. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ron’s family and friends.”

A message on RadioNOW’s Facebook page echoes that sentiment, reading, “Our hearts are heavy to announce the passing of our brother, DJ Indiana Jones. One of the best to ever do it in Indy. We’re paying tribute to a RadioNOW original. A man who uplifted everyone with his positive spirit and his love of music. Our #1 party motivator, gone too soon but never forgotten. Rest well, DJ Indiana Jones. We love you! Our condolences to his family, friends and fans.”

• RadioNow has published a tribute page on its website where listeners can post their thoughts and condolences.
