His impressive on-air resume includes stints at the late KNAC/Long Beach, KBBY & KTYD/Santa Barbaraand KROQ/Los Angeles, to name a few.

In addition to hosting one of the longest-running Blues shows in the country, Blues with Bowker for 42 years, Bowker also produced Charlie’s Back Room, hosted by Charlie Musselwhite, featuring Charlie’s eclectic music picks and stories from the road. Bowker also co-owned a production company, Smith & Bowker, which specialized in bringing some of the best Blues artists in the country to Northern California. Bowker is also the current PD/MD for online station XRDS, based in Clarksdale MS, known as “Ground Zero” of the Delta Blues. He will continue to program XRDS and produce shows in Northern California.

KRSH PD Andre de Channes commented, “Bill is one of the original freeform FM DJs and has inspired KRSH to be the station it is today. He is truly one of ‘The Last DJs.’ We are thrilled for him in this new chapter in his career. Bill is a treasure, and we will be excited to see what’s next for him.” Bowker remarked, “I have been so fortunate to spend the majority of my career right here in Sonoma County! The kind words that have already been said already have made feel so blessed. We sure did the right thing moving here in 1979!”

Bowker’s final broadcast and sign-off will be on his birthday, December 15 (also the date he started at KRSH) in a live-remote/listener appreciation party at Hopmonk Tavern in Sebastopol, CA. Everyone is invited. For more information and inquiries, please email andre@krsh.com.
