Wake Up Call For KC Radio

• Cumulus Urban KMJK (107.3 KC’s R&B and Hip Hop)/Kansas City debuted a new morning show on Monday — The Morning Wake Up With Sean Tyler and Tasha Mack, featuring Kansas City radio legend Sean Tyler and co-host Tasha Mack, a fresh voice to KC radio listeners.

The move marks a return to KMJK for Tyler, a Kansas City native, who did middays on KMJK two years ago. Tyler has been a fixture on local radio for almost 25 years, including an earlier stint in mornings over on Carter Broadcast Group Urban KPRS (Hot 103 Jamz) until 2015.

Ms. Mack is also a Kansas City native, and joins 107.3 from non-comm 90.1 KKFI-FM, where she was on-air personality and co-host of The Show Me Mix Show. She also has a successful modeling, acting and commercial voiceover career, and appeared in the web parody series, The UnReal Housewives of Kansas City.

Kenny Smoov, VP, Urban Formats, Cumulus Media, said of acquiring Sean Tyler, “When you can add a market legend to your brand in AM Drive… YOU DO IT!” Boogie D, PD of KMJK, commented, “Bringing back Sean Tyler to wake up his hometown and adding a brand-new voice to KC morning radio with Tasha Mack is an exciting next step in building 107.3 KC’s R&B and Hip Hop. This station is for you, KC!” Tyler remarked, “Destiny has brought me back to doing what I was born to do, where I need to be doing it!” Mack noted, “I’m honored to be given such an amazing opportunity to represent Kansas City!”

The Morning Wake Up replaces the Westwood One-syndicated Rick and Sasha, which ceased production last Friday.
