UPDATING: In a Thursday morning staff memo, Entercom Chairman, Pres. & CEO David Field announced that the company is making a “significant number” of layoffs, furloughed employees and salary reductions — the byproduct of the drastic worldwide economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Entercom Country WYCD/Detroit has parted company with 20-year morning co-host Chuck Edwards and APD/MD/midday personality Tom “Cadillac Jack” Kapsalis. Edwards, a 2020 Country Radio Hall of Fame inductee notably co-hosted the afternoon show alongside the late Linda Lee for 16 years before moving up to mornings with Rachael Hunter and Steve Grunwald in 2015. Hunter and Grunwald remain aboard. Prior to joining WYCD, Edwards spent 15 years at KSCS/Dallas. Zack Duarte exits Sports-Talk WAXY (790 The Ticket)/Miami, where he was the evening host for the past year and the station reporter at sporting events, including the most recent Super Bowl, 2019 SEC Media Day and 2018 BIG XII Media Day. Duarte had been with the company since 2010 and had worked his way up through the ranks from intern. Jason Kidd has exited as morning host on Classic Hits WIAD (94.7 The Drive)/Washington. His co-host Corinna Delgado is now rolling solo. Kidd initially broke the news in a Facebook post. Kidd took over the show in February 2019, crossing the street from the late WRQX (Mix 107.3). This one was a real jolt — Nancy Quill, who had piloted the midday show for nearly four decades at AC WMJX (Magic 106.7)/Boston has also been released. The consummate pro, Quill tweeted, “Thank you Boston for letting me into your lives via radio for 38 years. Lots of love!”


My former Gavin colleague Richard Sands, Publisher of The Sands Report shared the news that Aaron Axelsen, a fixture in the hallways of KITS (ALT 105)/San Francisco for the past 23 years, has exited his APD/MD post.

Liana Huth, who has served as SVP of Programming Innovation, under Entercom President of Programming Pat Paxtonin the company’s New York office, is now a free agent. Concurrent with Huth’s departure, several members of her team were also let go — Sr. Producer Jordana Kalmanowitz and Editor Brentton Wilson.
