Julian On The Radio On The Loose
• Monday’s flip of Lotus Hot AC KPLZ (Star 101.5)/Seattle from to Country as 101.5 HANK FM resulted in the departure of several staffers, including afternoon personality “Julian On The Radio” Nieh.
Julian joined Star in December 2021, sporting a major market resume that includes afternoons at KYLD (WILD 94.9)/San Francisco and KZZP/Phoenix, mornings & nights at B96/Chicago, and nights at WIHT (Hot 99.5)/Washington, DC. Julian also has extensive voice-tracking experience — at one point he was tracking up to eight stations plus weekends at KMVQ (99.7 NOW)/San Francisco.
Lotus Regional PD Jeff Connell said, “Julian is one of the most unique communicators I’ve had the chance to work with. Genuinely always interested in the goals set forth, asking all the right questions to hit the target, and deliver best execution. I always enjoyed the chance to collaborate with him. Add to that his incredible skills on social, and you’ve got a communicator who knows that it takes multiple platforms to reach today’s audience, and the passion to do it and do it with excellence.”
Lotus President Jim Kalmenson stated, “Julian was a very popular personality on Star FM. I’m sure our format change will create a big ratings opportunity for whoever becomes his next home station.”
Julian noted, “I absorb and learn from every experience. Seattle has given me great memories, as well as opportunities to grow my format versatility, along with my on-air and on-line acumen. That said, it’s no secret we are in challenging economic times, so I get it.”
Julian is now seeking opportunities in Top 40, Hot AC, Throwback or Rhythmic in AM or PM drive and can be reached at julianontheradio3@gmail.com, through his website, julianontheradio.com, or via Instagram, which also showcases his demo and social clips.
