Kuby, Ellison On The Loose
• RAMP has confirmed that Ron Kuby has exited as co-host of the Curtis & Kuby midday show on Cumulus News-Talk WABC/New York. The noon-3pm shift is now branded as just plain Curtis Sliwa, best known as the founder of the Guardian Angels.
Kuby announced his exit in a Facebook post that read, in part, “Yesterday I was informed by WABC management, after my show, that I had just done my last show. Those of you who know the business know this is a standard (if unpleasant) way of discharging people. I was told that the reason was budgetary, and I have no reason to doubt that explanation.” Curtis & Kuby had previously worked at WABC from 2000 until 2007, and returned to the station in January 2014.
• Myra Ellison has resigned her position as Director of Promotions, Marketing & Web for Entercom’s Madison cluster, citing health issues. In a letter, Ellison said, “I had back/spinal surgery an April 4, 2017. Unfortunately the recuperation for said surgery has been quite difficult and not at all what I anticipated, due to some complications. So instead of returning to work when expected, I now begin an intense physical therapy regimen. That being the case, I would need to be out on medical leave far longer than originally planned for and scheduled.”
Ellison is a 13-year radio pro who has worked for Jefferson Pilot in San Diego, Lincoln Financial Media in Atlanta and Entercom in Indianapolis and Madison. Her last day with the company is July 31. “I love my job. I love Entercom. And I love the radio industry,” Ellison said. “This is bittersweet for me, as I know it’s the right decision, yet I shall miss the job, the company, and most importantly the people, each and every day.” After July 31, Ellison can be reached at myra6972@yahoo.com.
