Major Cuts @ Service Broadcasting

RAMP has heard unconfirmed reports that as many as 10 people were downsized last Friday at Service Broadcasting Dallas. Among those adversely affected — Claudia Jordan (left), host of The Morning Rush on Urban AC KRNB (Smooth R&B 105.7) and producer Talus Knight (right), who doubled as MD of Urban sister KKDA (K104). Also out: Keynote, Asst. Producer of DeDe in The Morning on K104.

RAMP reached out to Director of Operations George Cook, who would not comment on the number of jobs lost, but did say, “We did go through a reorganization in an effort to streamline and operate more efficiently now, in 2020 and beyond.” Cook did confirm to RAMP that The Steve Harvey Morning Show returns to KRNB at 5am on Monday, Nov. 25. Cook will also re-absorb K104 MD duties, aided by Mix Show Coordinator DJ Steve Nice.

Ms. Jordan was previously a co-host of the syndicated Rickey Smiley Morning Show. She is a former Miss Rhode Island and is a veteran of Celebrity Apprentice, The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Deal Or No Deal and The Price Is Right. Knight was previously Operations Manager of Cumulus Media’s New Orleans cluster until Oct. 2018. Knight previously worked for Murray Communications in Macon, GA as OM and morning talent on Urban WFXM (Power 107.1), and his earlier on-air and programming stops include WCDX/Richmond, VA, WENZ/Cleveland and WHTA/Atlanta.

In a statement, Knight said, “Working at Service Broadcasting in Dallas was truly a unique experience. Learned so much serving dual roles as Producer of The Morning Rush with Claudia Jordan (@KRNB) & as Music Director (@KKDA).  I want to thank the great George Cook and the legendary Hymen Childs for the opportunity & their commitment to content innovation that has made me an even stronger programmer going forward.” Knight can be contacted at playlistcapo@gmail.com.
