PD John Hanson Exits WCCO/Minneapolis

• RAMP has independently confirmed that John Hanson has exited as PD of Entercom News-Talk WCCO-AM 830/Minneapolis. No replacement has been named as of yet.

The news was initially broken by the Minneapolis Star Tribune, quoting a Jan. 21 staff memo from SVP/Market Manager Shannon Knoepke that reads, in part, “Reaching out this afternoon to notify the staff that John Hanson is no longer with the Company, effective today… More to come as we move forward and work to fill this position.”

Hanson had been in the PD chair since December 2018, when he transferred back to his hometown after five years with Entercom Kansas City, where he had programmed Sports-Talk duo KCSP-AM (610 Sports Radio)and KWOD-AM (1660 The Score). Prior to his 2013 debut with Entercom Kansas City, Hanson co-hosted Twin Cities Live on KSTP-TV/Minneapolis. He previously programmed Lotus Sports-Talk KBAD-AM (ESPN Radio 920)/Las Vegas.
