St. James & Murphy On The Loose

• Well, this sucks — RAMP has learned that Lester St. James has exited as PD/afternoon delight on NRG Media Classic Hits KLNC (105.3 Wow FM)/Lincoln, NE. St. James had started working there in January 2013, following a five-year run with Clear Channel Omaha as PD of Classic Hits KGOR and morning personality on former Classic Rock KQBW (96.1 The Brew).

St. James broke the news on his Facebook page, as he posted, “Now that I’ve had a change in employment status (4 1/2 years of driving Omaha to Lincoln came to an end yesterday morning), guess I’ll have time to job search and read what could be a very educational book. Oh, and if you know someone hiring, PM me any leads.” Over the course of his 33-year career, St. James has served as OM of the Three Eagles cluster in Lincoln, NE, programmed KEZO/Omaha and also enjoyed successful programming stops in Wichita, KS, Evansville, IN and Carbondale, IL, to name a few. Lester was also a volunteer at The Conclave for nearly 20 years, and his booming voice was an annual fixture during the Conclave’s annual silent auction. Speaking of The Conclave, Lester is expected to attend this week’s 42nd Conclave in Minneapolis and will be having many meaningful conversations about his next radio opportunity. In the meantime, he can be reached at lesterstjames@gmail.com.

Matt Murphy has exited the afternoon air chair at Sunrise Top 40 WAZO (Z107.5)/Wilmington, NC after nine years and is now seeking his next opportunity. “HUGE numbers — consistently #1 for years across all demos/dayparts,” says Murphy, whose previous stops include afternoons on WKXB (Jammin’ 99.9) and the former Channel Z 98.3/Wilmington, mornings on WMNX (Coast 97.3)/Wilmington and nights on WEDG (95.1 The Edge)/Charlotte and WJMX (103X)/Florence, SC. Murphy can be easily contacted at 910-398-5537 or mattmurphyvoiceovers@yahoo.com.
