Talaya Trigueros Exits The Wave/L.A.
• After 30 years of hosting middays at Entercom Urban AC KTWV (94.7 The Wave)/Los Angeles, veteran air personality and voiceover artist Talaya Trigueros will exit after her show on Thursday, April 18, due to what is being described as budgetary reasons, ending a career filled with industry awards, accolades and No. 1 ratings.
Trigueros grew up in Albuquerque, NM and moved to San Francisco to study broadcasting at San Francisco State University. Her first big break came at the former KRE in Berkeley, CA, playing Jazz and Latin Jazz. When the format evolved to what became known as The Quiet Storm and the call letters changed to KBLX, Trigueros was hired to do middays there. She later moved to Los Angeles when the former KUTE 101.9 also adopted The Quiet Storm format. After subsequent stops at KNX-FM and the former K-Ocean, Trigueros landed at The Wave.
A proud SAG/AFTRA member since 1981, Talaya advocates on behalf of her fellow broadcasters to ensure fairness in all contracts. She has donated and volunteered for various nonprofits like the Juvenile Diabetes Association, Breast Cancer Awareness and she emcees the annual High Hopes Head Injury Benefit Concert in Newport Beach, among other events.
