Murphy Heads North, To Alaska

Charles Murphy has joined Alaska Broadcast Communications as News Director for the five-station group in Juneau, AK. In a joint statement, Group Programmer Shane Huntley and PD Chuck Geiger (pictured) said, “Charles lives and breathes contemporary news, and with our location in Alaska’s capitol city, it was imperative that we found a news hound like Charles.”

Murphy brings with him 30 years of news experience at radio stations in Canandaigua and Brockport, NY, Dade City, FL and most recently, Okeechobee, FL. Murphy said, “News happens outside of the station, and with no local TV or competition other than non-commercial signals, it’s our duty to bring fresh, quality news reporting to Southeast.”

• Alaska Broadcast Communications is seeking mega-adult communicators for possible future openings in beautiful Juneau. They are looking for entertainers with experience in Full Service, Hot AC, Country, Classic Hits and News-Talk.

If you are wrapped in social media/digital, news, pop culture, entertainment news, local events; if you are client-friendly and love community branding, they would love to hear from you. Send a short aircheck, cover letter and resume to: PD Chuck Geiger at chuck.geiger@abcstations.com. EOE/M/F
