Two AM Openings @ Entercom SD
• UPDATED: RAMP has confirmed that Entercom San Diego has parted ways with two of its high profile morning shows — market mainstays AJ Machado, Sara Perry & Executive Producer Hula Ramos are out at Classic Hits KXSN (Sunny 98.1), and across the hall, Dana DiDonato & Jayson Prim have exited Alternative KBZT (FM 94/9). We understand the positions will be posted shortly on the Entercom Careers portal.
Machado (left) and Perry (center) are longtime San Diego radio pros — Machado famously spent a decade in mornings on iHeartMedia Top 40 KHTS (Channel 933) back in the day, followed by a three-year run in mornings on Hot AC sister KMYI (Star 94.1). He later crossed the street to CBS Radio, enjoying a five-year run in wake-ups on now former Top 40 KEGY (Energy 103.7) before moving over to AC KyXy. Perry previously spent 15 years over on Midwest Television’s KFMB-FM, most recently in middays, before teaming up with Machado in August 2017. The duo later migrated over to Sunny 98.1. Ramos (right) and Machado also share a work history that dates back to Channel 933 in 2001.
In a Facebook post, Machado said, “Well, radio is a savage business and today it was my turn… I’m not sure what the future holds. I may end up back on San Diego’s airwaves, I may end up in another city or I may just move onto something else and finally start getting some sleep. No matter what, my 19-year run in America’s Finest City has been an incredible ride and if you’ve ever listened to my show, or spoken to me at an event or brought a toy out for one of my toy drives… thank you.” Perry commented, “What I’ll miss most is seeing our co-workers every day. It’s unheard of to have that many genuinely nice, supportive people in one building. You all are kind, cool and so, SO FUNNY. Miss you already! On to the next adventure! xo.”

• DiDonato and Prim (left to right) previously did mornings together on Cox Media Group Top 40 WBLI/Nassau-Suffolk before boldly changing coasts — and formats — in March 2017. RAMP caught up with DiDonato, who said, “Jayson and I loved our time at ALT San Diego. Who wouldn’t love three years of laughing and having fun with your friends while looking at palm trees?!! We are so grateful for the experience it was and the relationships we have. We are so excited for our next adventure together!”
