Condolences: Don Masters
• New England promotion legend Don Masters died Jan. 22, 2022 in Naples, FL at the age of 90. His obituary is posted online.
Masters, who given name was Donald Mastrocola, got his start in radio, working at the former WHIL-AM/Boston until the early ’60s, when he transitioned to the label side and went to work for Dot Records, covering all of New England. In 1970 Masters moved over to PolyGram and Mercury, and for the next three decades cemented his reputation as one of the Northeast’s most successful — and colorful — promotion icons until his retirement in 1997.
Masters is survived by his wife, Norma, his children — Joy, Denise, Thomas and Eugene, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his brother Albert.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held tomorrow, Jan. 29 from 11am-noon at the Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Rd, Naples, FL 34109. Contributions in Don’s name can be made to Love The Children and/or Saint Matthew’s House.
