Executive Action: MNRK Music Group
• Veteran recording artist, producer, promoter, and music executive Ian “J.Y.” Williams has been named Sr. Director of A&R at MNRK Music Group.
Williams A&R’d Kash Doll‘s Back On Dexter project and executive produced her newest album. He has also A&R’d for K. Michelle‘s I’m The Problem and Lul Khel‘s Head Melodies projects. Williams has also signed other recording acts including Tyfontaine, Shantel May, Billacheck, Jelly, OBN Jay, Jaz Karis, Dave East, Elijah Blake, C Stunna, Neek Bucks, and Masio Gunz.
He also played a part in the sales strategy for DJ Drama‘s I’m Really Like That album and the production and label partnership with multi platinum producer Hitmaka, and curated the MNRK Monday events through Soho House NYC and other MNRK-sponsored events.
Before joining MNRK, Williams managed and consulted artists through Atlantic Records, Def Jam Records, EMPIRE, and RCA. He started his career as a recording artist, with a catalog that includes five albums and collaborations with Nipsey Hussle, Killer Mike, Max B, Joe Budden, Fetty Wap, and many more.
Williams said, “As someone who has been in the industry since 17, from rap battling to song making to concert producer, to management, to A&R, to now executive, it’s been a crazy ride that I do not regret. Turning MNRK Music Group into a hotspot the past two years has been my main goal since initially working with eOne, and it will continue to be a huge priority of mine.”
