Get Well, Cheryl Valentine!

• We join the rest of the industry in sending positive thoughts and prayers to veteran Rock promotion pro Cheryl Valentine, who is recovering from a major stroke and brain hemorrhage suffered on December 9 while grocery shopping near her home in Charleston, SC.

Cheryl underwent emergency surgery to reduce the brain swelling and was diagnosed with three aneurysms, which will need to be controlled via surgery at a later date. After a week in the ICU and a second week in the hospital’s step-down unit, Cheryl was moved to rehab facility for 10 days of extensive physical, occupational and memory therapies. She was recently released to go home, but we are told she faces an extensive recovery period.

While her condition is described as stable, Cheryl will need extensive out-patient care to help repair the damage from the stroke. She’s currently receiving 3-5 hours of out-patient speech, physical, and occupational therapy. She will also need future brain surgery to repair the three remaining aneurysms as well as a possible surgery on her right eye that could help restore her vision.

Cheryl and her fiancé Rick Long are grateful for the outpouring of love and support that Cheryl has received thus far. Cheryl’s friends Kathie and Brett Merritt have established a GoFundMe account with the mission of raising $300,000 to help in Cheryl’s road to recovery. If you are able, please consider a donation to aid in Cheryl’s recovery and we ask that you please share this link to help us connect with others that can help.
