Hancock Joins Kobalt As EVP/Creative
• Kobalt, the leading independent music publishing destination for songwriters and publishers, has appointed Rani Hancock as Executive Vice President, Head of U.S. Creative, leading the company’s creative teams in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville.
Hancock will report to Kobalt President & Chief Commercial Officer Jeannette Perez, who said, “We are thrilled to welcome Rani Hancock to Kobalt Music. Her exceptional creative vision and proven track record make her the perfect fit to head our U.S. creative team. Hancock joins Kobalt from Columbia Records, where she was EVP, Head of A&R. She earlier served as EVP, A&R at RCA Records, she signed Miley Cyrus, Kesha, and Becky G. During her stint as President of Sire Records, Hancock signed Bryce Vine and Cavetown, and executive produced the Golden Globe-nominated soundtrack for The United States vs. Billie Holiday. Hancock began her career working for Clive Davis at Arista Records, later joining him as part of the founding team at J Records.
