Interscope, Blanco Renew Vows
Interscope Geffen A&M has extended its deal with the enormously successful producer, songwriter, musician and label head, Benny Blanco, which will keep his imprints Mad Love Records and Friends Keep Secrets at the label group well into the next decade. In making the announcement, Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman, John Janick said, “Benny Blanco is, without a doubt, one of the most-sought-after hit makers in contemporary music, who has amazing taste and a gift for identifying emerging talent. We are thrilled that he has decided to call Interscope his home well into the future.” He added, “Benny also has an almost divine ability to bring out the best in his collaborators, a track record virtually unmatched by anyone else his age, and he has achieved it all with the kind of humility and self-deprecation that is rare in this industry. We are proud to have him as a key player on our team of the best record-makers in the business. Benny is a giant part of our future.”
With 26 No. 1 records — so far — in his career, Blanco has worked with such artists as Ed Sheeran, Julia Michaels, Justin Bieber, Major Lazer, Halsey, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Kesha, Taio Cruz, Wiz Khalifa, Gym Class Heroes, Tory Lanez and many more. He has received 5 BMI Songwriter of the Year awards and is the recipient of the Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. “It’s been so easy working with these guys when developing artists can often feel so hard,” said Blanco. “I couldn’t have a picked a better team of creative minds to work with in John Janick, Steve Berman and Joie Manda. I’m really proud to be part of this legendary label and hope that I can make serious contributions to the legacy of Interscope over the coming years.”
