Max Named SVP/A&R For Warner Records

Stefan Max has been promoted to Senior Vice President of A&R for Warner Records. He’s based at the company’s new downtown Los Angeles headquarters.

The news of Max’s promotion was announced by the label’s Co-Chairman & CEO Aaron Bay-Schuck, who remarked, “Stefan’s track record and tenacity in signing great artists, and his skill in unlocking that talent in the studio, separates him from the pack. His first artist here is Sub Urban, whose debut project hits today and has already racked up over half a billion streams, driven by the hit single, ‘Cradles.’ Stefan thinks and speaks the language of music creatives, and he’s an invaluable member of our A&R team. [Co-Chairman & COO] Tom [Corson] and I are excited to see him soar in his new role.”

Max is a ten-year WMG veteran who got his start in 2010 as Director of A&R for Roadrunner Records and signed Young the Giant. He moved over to Atlantic Records in 2012 as VP of A&R, signing Icona Pop and Absofacto, as well as Vance Joy, whom he still produces and works with today. In Feb. 2019 Max moved from New York to Los Angeles to join Warner Records during its rebrand under the new leadership of Bay-Schuck and Corson. After his first Warner signing, Sub Urban, Max signed two other exciting new artists, Junior Varsity and Mayvis, and is working on Song Machine, the upcoming album from Grammy-winning band Gorillaz.

Max said, “Warner is truly a powerhouse. I have a massive amount of respect for Aaron, Tom and the entire team. I’m excited to discover and work alongside the next round of superstars to create a new generation of classic records.”
