Meet Your 64th Grammy Nominees!

UPDATED: Nominees in all 86 categories for the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards were just announced via a one-hour livestream, anchored by Harvey Mason, Jr., CEO of The Recording Academy® and Board of Trustees Chair Tammy Hurt, live from the GRAMMY Museum®, with the help of comedian Nate Bargatze, past GRAMMY® nominee Jon Batiste, past GRAMMY nominees BTS®, four-time GRAMMY® Award winner H.E.R., CBS Mornings anchor Gayle King, past GRAMMY winners Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, rock band Måneskin, past GRAMMY nominee Tayla Parx, and singer-songwriter Carly Pearce.

In a surprising development that happened shortly before the Grammy nominations were revealed, the Recording Academy announced it was expanding the number of nominees in the “Big Four” General Field categories from eight to 10, effective immediately. And with that, here are the 2021 nominees in the Grammys’ “Big Four” —

Record Of The Year: “I Still Have Faith In You” (ABBA); “Freedom” (Jon Batiste); “I Get A Kick Out Of You” (Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga); “Peaches” (Justin Bieber Feat. Daniel Caesar & Givēon); “Right On Time” (Brandi Carlile); “Kiss Me More” (Doja Cat Feat. SZA); “Happier Than Ever” (Billie Eilish); “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name” (Lil Nas X); “Drivers License” (Olivia Rodrigo); “Leave The Door Open (Silk Sonic).

• Enjoying a stunningly successful rookie season, the 18-year-old Rodrigo is nominated in all of the “Big Four” categories: Record, Album, Song of the Year and Best New Artist!

The biggest surprise of this year’s crop of nominees might be Jon Batiste — the multi-genre performer, recent Oscar winner and the bandleader on Late Show With Stephen Colbert came away with the most nominations with 11, across multiple genres, including Album of the Year for We Are, and Record of the Year for “Freedom.” Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and H.E.R. each earned eight nominations each, followed closely by Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo with seven nominations each.

And, after his inexplicable Grammy nomination shutout last year, and calling the Grammys “corrupt,” The Weeknd earned three Grammy nods this year — two on Album of the Year nominees — Doja Cat’s Planet Her (Deluxe) and Kanye West‘s Donda. His third nomination was for his appearance on Kanye’s single, “Hurricane,” which also features Lil Baby.

The complete list of all 2021 Grammy nominees is now posted at Grammy.com. The winners will be announced during the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards, happening Monday, Jan. 31, 2022 from 8-11:30pm ET/5-8:30pm PT on CBS, and streaming live and on-demand on Paramount+. [Jon Batiste photo: Twitter]
