Chanley Named MD/PM Drive, WXRT/Chicago

UPDATED: Andy Chanley has been named as the new afternoon drive host and Music Director at Audacy Triple A WXRT (93XRT)/Chicago, with a start date of March 11.

“Andy Chanley is one of the most respected in the business and will be a tremendous addition to the XRT team,” said Laura Duncan, Brand Manager of 93XRT. “His passion for music and reverence for WXRT, the on-air team, and the city of Chicago makes Andy the perfect fit.”

Chanley currently anchors afternoon drive at public, member-supported Triple A KCSN (88.5, The SoCal Sound)/Los Angeles. Chanley broke the news to SoCal Sound listeners Wednesday morning during a special guest appearance on Mornings with Nic Harcourt & Jet. “However much you think this station has meant to me, it’s meant more,” Chanley said. “Listeners often tell us that The SoCal Sound has seen them through tough times like the pandemic. But, actually, this station and these listeners saw me through the pandemic. They saw me through Stage 3 cancer. They saw me through the last six years of my life, and for that, I am forever grateful.”

Chanley now returns to the Midwest after more than two decades on the West Coast, including nearly ten years with former Entercom/Bonneville Classic Rock KSWD (100.3 The Sound)/Los Angeles, where he presided over its sign-off on Nov. 16, 2017. Chanley earlier worked at the former KACD (Channel 103.1) and KLYY (Y107)/Los Angeles.

“As an Indiana kid, being in Chicago was always thrilling — partly because I could hear bands like R.E.M., Big Star and Velvet Underground on FM radio for the first time,” said Chanley.
“Even before I got into radio, XRT was the gold standard to me, and that opinion has never faded. I know what XRT means to folks here and around the world, and I’m honored to finally be a part of it. I can’t wait to get back to my friends and family!”

Concurrent with Chanley’s arrival, afternoon host Ryan Arnold will move back to 7-midnight, and current evening host Emma Mac will move to weekends.
