Connoisseur CT Minus Norman & Pacelli
• More Connoisseur departures, this time in Connecticut, as RAMP confirmed the exit of legendary morning talent Storm N Norman from AC WEBE108/Bridgeport, CT, and Paul Pacelli as host of Connecticut Todayin afternoon drive on News-Talk sister WICC (600AM/95.9FM), “The Voice Of Connecticut.”
Norman (left) was on his second tour of duty at WEBE — he famously joined the station at its launch in 1984 and remaining there until announcing what turned to be his “retirement” in August 2013. He made his triumphant return to mornings in May 2019 when Connoisseur took over operation of the cluster from Cumulus.
Connecticut native Pacelli (right) also joined WICC in May 2019, sporting a four-decade radio resume that included WDRC-AM and WPOP-AM/Hartford, WQUN-AM/New Haven, and WSTC/Stamford, to name a few.
In a joint statement, Connoisseur SVP of Programming Keith Dakin and WEBE PD Robby Bridges said, “We were thrilled to bring Norm back to WEBE in 2019 after he had spent many years with the station, and we certainly hope he will remain a part of WEBE in some capacity. Regardless of what comes next, Norm will always be a part of the WEBE family. He is a good friend of the station, and we are grateful for everything he has brought to WEBE and our listeners over the years. Moving forward, Jon Kamal is hosting the WEBE Wake Up Morning Show.”
Kamal (left) also co-hosts The Download with Chris Williams from noon-2pm on WICC and also does nights on Classic Rock WPLR/New Haven. Compass Media Networks-syndicated Markley, Van Camp & Robbins will now fill the 2-5pm timeslot on WICC.
In a gracious Facebook post, Norman said, I want to thank each of you for all your kind words. I am not bitter, or sad, or angry. WEBE108 is a great radio station. I still have many friends working there, so rather than not listen, please keep tuned in. I met my wife Annie there in 1985 — Anne Rondepierre, WEBE108 traffic! We had split shifts and were able to raise the most incredible children without a minute of daycare. Four children, and two grandsons now, and a lifetime of friends and many memories. I thank you for reaching out. I’m still waking up at 1:30, but get to fall asleep again. My love to all of you. Norm.”
