Olivia Rodrigo Leads 2021 AMA Nominees

• Pop powerhouse Olivia Rodrigo certainly made her presence felt ahead of her inaugural American Music Awards appearance, leading the class of 2021 with seven nominations including Artist of the Year and New Artist of The Year. Right behind was The Weeknd with six nominations, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Music Video and Favorite Pop Song.

Bad Bunny, Doja Cat and Givēon each earned five nominations — Reggaeton superstar Bad Bunny dominates in the Latin categories, scoring a double nod for Favorite Latin Album, while Doja Cat, 2020’s New Artist of the Year, is recognized in the Favorite Female R&B Artist and Favorite R&B Album categories, among others. First-time nominee Givēon received multiple nominations in his AMA debut, including New Artist of the Year, Favorite Male R&B Artist, and Collaboration of the Year for his hit with Justin Bieber, “Peaches.”

The full list of nominees for Artist of the Year are: Ariana Grande, BTS, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swiftand The Weeknd. Swift is the current record-holder for most wins in this category with six, and holds the record for most AMA wins of all time, with 32. In addition to Rodrigo and Givēon, the 2021 New Artist nominees are 24kGoldn, Masked Wolf and The Kid LAROI. New categories added this year are Favorite Trending Song, with nominees from TikTok on the year’s most viral songs, Favorite Gospel Artist, and Favorite Latin Duo or Group.

Voting is now open and this year, for the first time ever, fans can vote for all AMA categories on TikTok by searching for “AMAs” in-app. The 2021 American Music Awards are happening Sunday, Nov. 21 at 8pm ET/PT on ABC and will stream next day on Hulu. Tickets are now on sale now at axs.com.
