Sackheim Upped To Epic EVP/GM
• Rick Sackheim has been promoted to Executive Vice President & General Manager of Epic Records. In his newly enhanced position, Sackheim will now also be responsible for overseeing the Epic Marketing, Publicity and Video Production departments. Based in Culver City, CA, Sackheim will report directly to Sylvia Rhone, Chairwoman & CEO, Epic Records, who said, “Rick’s reputation as one of the top record promotion execs in the industry is well-earned. The decades that he spent learning every aspect of the game have paid off for Epic, where he has led the Promotion team to its most spectacular and historic achievements over the past two years. We are fortunate to have him aboard, and we congratulate him on taking over his challenging new role of GM at the label.”
Sackheim joined Epic Records in 2018, as Executive Vice President, and has played a pivotal role in growing the radio presence of Epic stars Travis Scott, Camila Cabello, 21 Savage, Future, and many others. “It’s an honor to not only work for and learn from the highly accomplished Sylvia Rhone, but to continue the legacy of Epic Records,” said Sackheim. “Sylvia Rhone’s success is celebrated throughout our business, and the powerhouse roster of artists and executives that she has built will lead us into this new decade with the ferocity and determination to make another mark in music history.”
Sackheim arrived at Epic in 2018 after a distinguished 12-year run at Def Jam Recordings, where he rose to Executive Vice President, Promotion. Sackheim began his major label career at Arista Records in 2001 as Sr. Director, Rhythm/Crossover Promotion, and was later upped to VP, Rhythm/Crossover. In 2004, he joined Jive Records, as VP, Rhythm/Crossover Promotion. The following year he joined the former Island Def Jam Music Group as SVP of Promotion, a position he held until the separation of IDJ in 2014, when he joined Def Jam.
