Sheer Named EVP/Head of Def Jam Promo

• UPDATED: Noah Sheer — a seasoned and highly-respected 22-year veteran of Def Jam — has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Head of Promotion, Def Jam Recordings, it was announced by Nicki Farag, EVP/General Manager.

Sheer, who is based in Santa Monica, will report jointly to incoming Chairman & CEO Tunji Balogun, and to Farag, who said, “I have had the pleasure and honor of working with Noah for twenty years. His love, respect and reverence for the Def Jam logo — it’s artists and legacy and most of all music – is unmatched. I’m beyond proud to see him elevate in this capacity, and to continue to work alongside him every day. Noah’s leadership, passion and talent will continue to leave its mark on the future of this company.”

Sheer has served as EVP, Rhythm/Crossover & Lifestyle Promotion, Def Jam Recordings, since 2018, following his two-year stint as SVP, Rhythm/Crossover & Dance Promotion. Sheer began his music career in 1998 as a Promotion Assistant at Arista Records before joining Def Jam in 2000 as Mid-Atlantic Regional Promotion Manager. After four years he was promoted to Sr. Director, Rhythm Promotion.
