Timure Earns Island SVP Stripes

Sharon Timure has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing for Island Records. In her newly expanded role, Timure will lead the marketing strategies at Island.

Timure is based in New York and reports directly to Island GM Mike Alexander, who remarked, “Sharon is one of the most dedicated, passionate, and creative marketing strategists in the industry. Respected by artists, managers, as well as the entire staff, Sharon’s prowess in developing artists with a progressive strategy will be a driving force leading Island Records into the future.”

Timure, who got her start as a college intern, has been a well-respected UMG veteran for over 15 years and has served as Island’s VP of Marketing, since 2015, playing a key role in the global success of Shawn Mendes, and working with The Killers, Bon Jovi, and others. In 2016 Billboard included her in its prestigious annual list of “40 Under 40 Power Players”; the following year she was celebrated in the magazine’s annual “Women In Music” power list.

“I’m honored to continue my journey at Island Records as part of an amazing team driven by many female department heads,” said Timure. “Island is an iconic label with unmatched artists and staff, that has been my home since the start of my career. Thank you [co-CEOs] Imran [Majid], Justin [Eshak], and Mike for this incredible opportunity to join the senior executive team launching the next era of Island Records.” [Photo credit: Meredith Truax]
