WYSO Seeks Label Service
• Back in August RAMP first shared the story of community-owned NPR affiliate WYSO/Yellow Springs, OH, which was rapidly outgrowing its outdated (and leaky) facility and quickly found that building a new headquarters or leasing a local space prohibitively expensive. Enter comedian Dave Chappelle, a Yellow Springs resident and WYSO supporter, who bought the historic Union School House near the center of town last year (Google Street View). After hearing that the station was looking to relocate, Chappelle offered to renovate the building according to WYSO’s specifications and to work with the station to negotiate a long-term lease agreement.
Paragon Media Strategies is consulting WYSO on the creation of the format and launch of the new streaming radio station, and Paragon Founder/CEO Mike Henry sent a letter to record labels on behalf of Juliet Fromholt, MD of WYSO Music, requesting Alternative, Indie Rock and Triple A music service, including any sub-formats like Noncomm, NPR, Americana, etc. As Henry explained, “WYSO Music is expanding to a new music format with a 24/7 streaming radio station for Dayton and Cincinnati. Please make sure Juliet is in your radio database and send all new music digital audio files to: Juliet Fromholt, Music Director, WYSO Music at jfromholt@wyso.org.” Check out WYSO’s current music programs at wyso.org/music-programs.
