Bob Seger Blvd. Opens Friday!
• Beasley Media Classic Rock WCSX/Detroit and the City of Allen Park, MI are excited to announce the official unveiling of “Bob Seger Boulevard” on Friday, October 19.
Back in May we first told you about this six-month labor of love, spearheaded by Jim O’Brien, host of the Big Jim’s House morning show on WCSX to pay tribute to the Michigan rock legend. The original proposal called for a stretch of road on the grounds of Seger’s alma mater, Pioneer High School (formerly Ann Arbor High) in Ann Arbor to be renamed, but that deal didn’t work out.
Enter the City of Allen Park, which graciously reached out and offered up a street just off of Southfield Road, and just south of Allen Park City Hall. As Marketing Director Ben Perez tells RAMP, “I think Bob would be very happy for the location. They are very excited for this opportunity and so are we.”
A stage will be set up Friday afternoon at Allen Park City Hall at 15915 Southfield Road, and the festivities will roll from 4-6pm, including a special performance by a Bob Seger tribute band as well as a video screen featuring fans & celebrities congratulating the rock legend! WCSX and the City of Allen Park encourage all fans and residents to come out and celebrate the dedication of Bob Seger Boulevard!
