Caller 12 Buys A T-Shirt

• Hang onto something… RAMP just found out that some enterprising folks finally came up with a t-shirt and apparel company designed specifically FOR radio people, BY radio people? Yes, it’s true — introducing Hot Mic Clothing Co., recently launched by married radio vets Chad & Dawn Erickson, who, like many fellow radio geeks, found that it’s nearly impossible to find any decent gift for anyone in radio or the voiceover industry. And, if you do, they’re usually tacky. As Chad notes, “We always wished for some cool radio shirts, but were always let down by some lame one-off from Old Navy.”

HotMicClothingCo.com offers a full line of radio-related clothing, including t-shirts, hoodies, jackets, hats, etc., all bearing a bunch of classic radio one-liners, “On Air” images and quotes like “Don’t make me use my announcer voice,” and “Don’t Ask Me For Free Tickets,” Hot Mic Clothing Company has something for everyone in our industry.

Chad and Dawn Erickson are native New Englanders who were both bitten by the radio bug at an early age — their lives collided in 2007 while they were both working at a Clear Channel Hartford. Today they live in Western Massachusetts where they still have a passion for radio and media but in different roles — Chad is a voiceover talent who can be heard on hundreds of radio and TV stations, while Dawn, after spending almost 20 years doing radio promotions and outdoor media sales left her career in 2018 to stay home and raise their two daughters.

The idea for the business actually came about in 2019, like most great concepts do — with ideas scribbled on bar napkins over many drinks… but didn’t actually come to fruition until this year. “COVID happened and the world stopped,” Chad said. “And we had nothing but time to come up with great ideas for building a brand wrapped around all things radio and voiceovers!” Hot Mic has something for everyone in radio supporting all body shapes and sizes. “We’re launching with 50 designs and will keep updating to keep it fresh,” said Chad, who can be reached at chad@chaderickson.com; contact Dawn at dawn@ineedademo.com.
