Cumulus Upgrades Shoshana Shapiro To SVP
• Cumulus Media has promoted Shoshana Shapiro to Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Marketing — an upgrade from her most recent role as VP, Corporate Communications and Marketing Initiatives.
In addition to her current responsibilities leading the Company’s internal and external communications, Shapiro will now also oversee marketing for key revenue-generating programs across the 85 Cumulus markets. She will continue to report to Cumulus Pres./CEO Mary G. Berner, and serve on the company’s leadership team.
“Shoshana’s promotion is a reflection of the essential and unique role that she has played at Cumulus over the last nine years,” said Berner. “Her communications work has helped us build one of the healthiest and most positive corporate cultures in our industry. Her revenue generation efforts have resulted in millions of dollars of incremental revenue for the company and significant improvements in the competitiveness of our local market sellers.” Berner added, “Moreover, her insights and collaborative spirit have made her an invaluable member of our leadership team, and I’m looking forward to her continued success in this new role.”
Since joining Cumulus in 2015, Shapiro launched company-wide collaboration tools and platforms; supported HR in establishing new programs for onboarding, DEI, and employee recognition; and developed the Company’s annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report. She has also been instrumental in driving some of the Company’s most successful revenue initiatives. Prior to Cumulus, Shapiro held roles across several media sectors, including publishing with the Association of Magazine Media, film and TV development with Tribeca Productions, and television production with an ABC daytime talk show. She also spent several years with Rosie O’Donnell‘s production company, KidRo Productions, ultimately serving as a producer and frequent on-air contributor on SiriusXM’s Rosie Radio. Shapiro graduated with honors from New York University with a B.S. in Communications.
Shapiro remarked, “When Mary gave me the opportunity to help build the communications function at Cumulus, I had no idea how gratifying that experience would be. Equally rewarding has been the ability to support so many revenue-generating initiatives, and I’m eager to expand my efforts in those areas. I’m greatly appreciative of Mary’s leadership and mentorship and am excited to continue to work with the entire Cumulus team to build value for all our constituencies.”
